Our log cabins & buildings are made from interlocking kiln dried spruce or pine logs supplied in a range of thicknesses from 45mm up to 94mm. Base beams are approximately twice as thick as the walls and, along with floor joists, they are are pressure impregnated against rot.
The thermal mass capacity of log walls is higher than those constructed of bricks or concrete. Each building is supplied complete with full double glazing, door and window furniture. We can advise on treatment for walls and, with some very simple periodic maintenance, all our buildings have an indefinite life expectancy. All fittings; window furniture, draft excluders, screws and build components are included.
We can also offer laminated logs which are resistant to splitting. Logs are glued from two or more wooden layers so that the heart of the wood is at the surface of the log, which means that the hard core at the centre of the wood where the rings are tighter, smaller and stronger, finish on the outside surface making the finished log more resistant to all weather conditions.
Advantages of laminating:
Laminating logs drastically reduces all cracking, warping, twisting, and shrinking which can be a natural feature with solid timber.
Hand selection of timbers prior to laminating means that only the finest quality timbers are used, thus greatly enhancing the finished appearance of your cabin.
